Workshop 1 March 23 2021

How do we Accelerate the Implementation of the 2030 Agenda?

Organized by The government of Romania for the Friends of Governance for Sustainable Development in cooperation with the UN-DESA Office of Intergovernmental Support and Coordination for Sustainable Development

The Political Declaration of the 2019 SDG Summit stresses the urgent need for concerted, accelerated action by all stakeholders at all levels to achieve the 2030 Agenda.
The UN Secretary-General called on all sectors of society to mobilize for a decade of action on three levels:
1. Global action: to secure greater leadership, more resources and smarter solutions for the Sustainable Development Goals;
2. Local action: embedding the needed transitions in the policies, budgets, institutions and regulatory frameworks of governments, cities and local authorities; and
3. People action: including by youth, civil society, the media, the private sector, unions, academia and other stakeholders, to generate an unstoppable movement pushing for the required transformations.
Moving ahead on the Decade of Action for SDG implementation by 2030 called by the Secretary-General, this platform will continue to mobilize ambitious actions and track their progress.
In the lead up to the SDG Summit, UN DESA set up an online platform to capture new and ambitious SDG Acceleration Actions. (UNDESA)
